Users warned of fake Netflix email: Alert Priority High
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is warning that a fake email is circulating that aims to steal users’ Netflix credentials.
According to ACMA, the fake email has the subject line ‘Netflix Membership on Hold’ and includes a link that takes the user to a Netflix sign-in page that is almost identical to the legitimate Netflix page.
In a post on its
Facebook page, ACMA warns that the fake sign-in page is ‘a reminder that phishing scams aren’t just about stealing your bank account details—you need to keep ALL your personal information safe and secure’.
You are advised to delete the email immediately and not click on any links.
Staying safe
Stay Smart Online recommends you do not open emails from unknown senders, and that you be wary of unexpected emails.
If you are unsure about whether an email is legitimate, contact the organisation, department or individual that it purports to come from, using a number you have independently located on a website, phonebook or bill, before opening the message.

ACORN makes it easier and more convenient to report cybercrime to a law enforcement agency.
