Stanthorpe’s Big Thermometer Community Celebration and Launch
As you may be aware, the call for a “Big Thermometer” as a tourist attraction has been in the wind for many years.
Mick Spiller, Coordinator of the Big Thermometer Steering Committee, on behalf of the Stanthorpe & Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce, has finally been successful in making this structure a reality. The design, approval and grant funding has allowed this exciting project to progress and will commence within weeks.
Our priority is to involve the whole community in this long awaited venture. We wish to invite you to a community celebration to launch the Big Thermometer tourist attraction to be held at Rotary Park, below the Visitors Information Centre, on Sunday 5 November 2017 between 11.00am and 2.00pm where there will be fun activities and a sausage sizzle for all to enjoy.
At this launch, you will be provided with the opportunity to order a commemorative plaque that will be installed in the landscaping design in the form of a pathway leading to the Big Thermometer construction.
The plaques will depict the names of businesses or families that wish to be immortalised into the landscape design of this iconic structure. A prototype of the available plaques, as well as a display of how the plaques will be incorporated into the design will be available on the day.
Please join us for your chance to become a part of this historical community event. Further progress and fund-raising events will be released into the media shortly, but do not miss this opportunity to highlight your business or family name into the Big Thermometer landscape design.
We look forward to your participation and welcome you to be a part of this new structure representing the coldest town in Queensland.
