Tourism Recovery Workshops
Southern Downs Regional Council is helping the local tourism industry by hosting workshops to assist tourism operators with marketing during natural disasters by hosting two Tourism Recovery Workshops.
The Southern Downs and Granite Belt are filled to bursting with scenic tourist destinations, relaxing B&Bs, and scrumptious local produce and wines. However, as the region has been affected by bushfires and drought, the tourism industry has also been impacted.
It is more important than ever that visitors know that the Southern Downs and Granite Belt are open for business and wholeheartedly welcoming guests.
Reputation recovery efforts from both destination marketing organisations and tourism operators are vital to ensure successful recovery following bushfire events and other natural disasters.
The Southern Downs Regional Council in conjunction with Southern Queensland Country and Granite Belt Wine Country are hosting Tourism Recovery Workshops to equip businesses and residents with tools to expediate their tourism recovery process.
Workshops will be held on Tuesday 5 November at 10:30am in Stanthorpe and 2:30pm in Warwick.
Dr Gabby Walters and Associate Professor Judith Mair from the University of Queensland will share their expert knowledge on what destinations and businesses can do to manage their reputation following natural disasters.
Southern Queensland Country Tourism, SDRC and Granite Belt Wine Tourism will also share details of the tourism recovery marketing campaign being delivered across the next four months.
If you are interested in attending, please register by 31 October via edu@sdrc.qld.gov.au or 07 4661 0423.
