Located 800 metres above sea level\, temperatures can drop as low as minus 12 in winter; and occasionally it snows\, as seen in July 2015. The region is perfect for growing some of the finest crisp Apples and Wine Grapes in Australia. \nThe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival is a blooming big party\, celebrating the harvest of Apples and Wine Grapes. \nFeatured Events\nThe main weekend features the Gala Ball on Friday 2nd March\,  and the Breeze/Rebel FM Street Carnival\, Channel 7 Grand Parade\, The Border Post Grape Crush & Fireworks on Saturday the 3rd March. \nThe Heritage Bank Multicultural Carnival and Wine Fiesta in the park on both Saturday and Sunday\, where you can kick back in the park and enjoy live music while sipping on fine Granite Belt wines; check out the street stalls and the local art and craft markets. Entry fee for the licensed park area is $10 per person per day\, children under 18 free. \nWine Masterclass\nWine connoisseurs will enjoy participating in a Wine Tasting Masterclass with champion winemaker Mike Hayes\, where they will learn about some of the world`s rarest wine grape varieties and be guided through the origins\, aromas and flavours of the most exotic wine styles in the world. \nOpen Gardens\nDuring the week ten glorious gardens will be opened up to the public. View cool climate gardens that are very different to most gardens in Queensland. \nBusking\nOn February 24 Stanthorpe hosts the Australian National Busking Championships™ – South East Queensland Regional Finals. Buskers are invited to vie for a pool of over $5000 in prize money. \nApples\nApples feature heavily during Apple Day\, with competitions in Apple Peeling and Apple Pie making. \nSport & fitness\nSports fans have golf\, the That Dam Ride bike ride and the Power Tynan Mt Marlay Challenge and Fun Run to keep them occupied. \nWho visits the Festival\nThe festival attracts thousands of visitors of all ages from all parts of Queensland and North Eastern New South Wales. DESCRIPTION:Spectators\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuskers will play throughout the day in Stanthorpe’s main street (from 9am – 3:30pm)\, for half-hour sessions\nFinalists perform in Weeroona Park at a free concert from 4pm (food & drink available)\nSpectators can purchase “Busker Dollars” for $1 each & give them to the Buskers they like the most. Each Busker Dollar you purchase enters you into a multi-draw raffle\, to be drawn at the concert. The busker with the most Busker Dollars wins the People’s Choice Award.\n\nBuskers\n\nAnyone can be a busker – beginners to professionals\nPrizes now total over $6000. There are many different categories you can compete in.\nBuskers who participated last year are welcome to come again\nSingers\, groups\, musicians and instrumentalists of any genre and non-musical street entertainers welcome\nAll cash tips buskers make on the day are theirs to keep\nYou can perform as many 1/2 hour sets as you like (pending number of buskers and stations). Also included in these workshops is how to make easy sourdough bread from scratch and also how to create living throbbing with probiotic life dairy foods f…rom pasteurised milk and cream. All these foods will greatly increase the health of both you and your family as they taste the delicious creations you will soon be making for them. \nAfter the workshops you can expect to eat your first sourdough bread the following day\, your first feta cheese 10 days later\, dairy products such as butter\, ghee\, yoghurt\, kefir\, sour cream and quark will all be ready to eat with your sough bread in a few days and your first brie cheese in 6-7 weeks. A support group is offered after the workshops through the ‘Home Cheese Making and Fermenting’ group on facebook and also by email. \nBrie & Sourdough Dough Making Workshop: \nLearn how to make your own delicious brie cheese from cow’s milk as well as easy to make delicious sourdough bread. Both of these fermented foods are made on the spot with samples for taste testing for all attendees. Hands on participation from the class volunteers will show how to make brie cheese\, and sourdough bread from scratch. Includes: E-Handouts with recipes\, sourdough starter\, bread dough to bake at home or bake on the day and taste testing. \nFeta Cheese\, Cultured Butter\, Ghee\, Yoghurt\, Kefir\, Quark & Sour Cream Making Workshop: \nLearn how to make Feta cheese\, cultured butter\, yoghurt\, kefir and sour cream. A round trip from Storm King Dam on Sunday\, 25th February 2018\, come and be part of the annual charity ride. \nWe have catered for all levels of cyclists with a 125km main ride\, a 70km challenge\, 45km intermediate or 20km ride for beginners\, kids or the whole family. \nAfter the ride\, every paying participant will receive a souvenir\, steak burger\, drink and apple. They can then relax along the banks of Storm King Dam\, taking in all that the picturesque landscape has to offer. DESCRIPTION:Brought to you by the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society. The Stanthorpe Showgrounds Markets are the 4th Sunday of each month and include a wide variety of stall holders – car boot\, trash n treasure\, second hand gear\, vintage\, plants\, fresh farm produce\, baked goods\, handmade wares\, etc. You might even find face painting or a pony ride. \nThe Ringmasters Cafe is open to serve up drinks and meals. Bring your own mug and they will serve your cuppa in it. Take it for a wonder or sit and relax undercover.  \n\nStallholders are encouraged to reserve a spot to avoid disappointment. This is an outdoor market. Stallholders supply their own set up. Sites are $10 each.
