DESCRIPTION:6th\, 12th  & 13th September\nWIRAC\n29 Palmerin Street\, Warwick \n6th September  12.00 – 5pm        12th September  10 am – 11 am    13th  September 10.am – 11.00am \nA week of events and activities to showcase local disability services and programs as well as an opportunity for people with a disability to get together and have fun! \nSouthern Downs set to celebrate DisABILITY Action Week 2018\nThe Southern Downs will celebrate the valuable contribution people with a disability make to the community when Disability Action Week 2018 kicks off in September.\nCommittees and community groups across the Southern Downs are working hard on preparing for a full Calendar of Events to celebrate the important occasion.\nDisability Action Week will be celebrated across the Southern Downs from 6-22 September.\nSouthern Downs Mayor\, Tracy Dobie said Disability Action Week is a way to empower people with a disability while raising awareness in the community.\n“Everyone involved has contributed great ideas and worked hard on finalising another fabulous program of events and activities\,” Cr Dobie said.\n“These groups do great work with our community members with a disability and in past years have delivered some wonderful programs and events for Disability Action Week which benefited the entire community.”\nCr Dobie also highlighted that one in five Queenslanders has a disability of some kind\, and disability touches the lives of most Queenslanders in some way.\n“Disability Action Week is aimed at empowering people with a disability\, so it’s an important celebration\,” she said.\n“It’s also about raising awareness of disability issues\, encouraging positive attitudes towards people with a disability\, and improving access and inclusion of people with a disability throughout the wider community.\n“We all have a role in creating a truly welcoming and inclusive community\, from businesses and government to community organisations and individuals.\n“We ask everyone to take part in Disability Action Week and show their support.”\nDisability Action Week kicks off on 6 September 2018!
