DESCRIPTION:Southern Downs Youth Council launches Acts of Kindness program\n  \nWarwick State High School students will engage with residents of the Southern Downs region as part of Southern Downs Youth Council’s Acts of Kindness program. \nA youth advisory committee to Southern Downs Regional Council\, SDYC will hold the FREE Acts of Kindness sessions at Warwick Library beginning 31 October. \nSDYC aims to foster positive relationships between youth and other members of the Southern Downs community through sharing the activities\, achievements and social commitments of young people in our region. \nSouthern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said Council is delighted to partner with Warwick State High School staff and students to promote how young people contribute to the region. \n“The Southern Downs Youth Council and the Acts of Kindness program provides a unique opportunity for our community’s young people to reach out and interact in a positive way with the rest of the community\,” Cr Dobie said. \n“The Acts of Kindness program also allows members of the Southern Downs community to engage with and support our region’s youth in their different projects and activities.” \nFor the first session on 31 October\, tech savvy students will introduce the basic concepts of robotics\, coding and STEM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Mathematics) to community members. \nFor the following two sessions SDYC will host social morning teas and share their projects and achievements throughout the year with the community. \nSDYC will hold the sessions in the Warwick Library meeting room on the following dates and times: \nWednesday 31st October              2:00pm-2:45pm                Robotics \nThursday 15th November              10:15am-11:15am            Morning tea \nThursday 29th November              10:15am-11:15am            Morning tea \nFor more information on the Acts of Kindness program or Southern Downs Youth Council\, please contact Gwen Jones on 1300 MY SDRC (1300 697 372) or gwen.jones@sdrc.qld.gov.au\, or visit the Southern Downs Youth Council’s Facebook page. \nTo stay up to date with all the latest events and news\, please visit SDRC’s website at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au or follow us on Facebook.
