BORDER LANDCARE ORGANIC GROUP
At BLOG we believe in growing (and eating) food that is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides, but that is also nutrient dense.
We have a monthly event, usually held on a Saturday morning, where we look at some aspect of growing or eating organic food. For example, this year our events have included bread making, vegetable growing, fruit trees, the use of guard animals, raising chickens and a visit to a local winery.
Most of our members live in the Border region, from north of Stanthorpe to south of Tenterfield, and most of our events are held in this area, though we occasionally go further afield.
BLOG has a monthly bring and buy at our events, where members share excess produce, plants etc and also an annual seed savers’ swap.
Our events are fairly informal with time to socialise over morning tea and lunch.
BLOG does not have a formal committee structure. We have a steering group meeting each month and all members are welcome to attend – we are always looking for new ideas for events.
BLOG itself is a member of the Granite Borders Landcare Committee (GBLC) but if you want to be a member of GBLC as well as BLOG then you need to join GBLC on a personal basis.
