New reservoir now supplying water to Dalveen

26 February 2020

The newly constructed 150kL concrete reservoir at Dalveen was brought online on Monday 22 February 2021 and is supplying water to the Dalveen water distribution system. These completed works will improve and future-proof water supply reliability for the Dalveen community.

The project commenced in November 2020 and has been completed well ahead of the original April 2021 expected completion date. Whilst specialist contractors were engaged for the design and construction of the reservoir, Council’s construction crew contributed to the project by building the connecting pipework for the new reservoir to the existing water main.

The residents of Dalveen may experience some taste difference with the water due to the reservoir being newly constructed from concrete.

The first 100KL of water was carted from Warwick to Dalveen for the first reservoir fill and extensive water quality tests have been carried out to ensure regulatory requirements have been met.

The project received $300,000 in funding under the 2019-21 W4Q program, an initiative of the Queensland Government.
