Apple protects desktop OS and web browser with new patches: Alert Priority High

Apple has issued security updates to protect users against potential attacks using vulnerabilities in its OS X desktop operating system and its Safari web browser.

The OS X updates are available for OS X Yosemite v10.10.5 and OS X El Capitan v10.11.6, while Safari 9.1.3 security content is available for OS X Mavericks v10.9.5, OS X El Capitan v10.11.6 and OS X Yosemite v10.10.5.

You are advised to review Apple’s advisories for OS X and Safari and apply the updates as soon as possible.

Updates close vulnerabilities in computer systems that remote attackers can otherwise use to gain access to systems or information. A vulnerability is a weakness that can leave a computer and its systems open to attack. Attacks can be carried out a number of ways, including through malicious software (malware) such as viruses and spyware that can monitor a users’ activity on a computer and stop systems operating properly.
